University of Holy Cross: Rising with New Orleans

by The 100 Companies

When Hurricane Katrina struck, UHC’s campus remained intact – and so did our mission. We became a vital hub for community services, embracing our responsibility to New Orleans, serving as an Emergency Operations Center.

Our campus became the base for the New Orleans Fire Department’s operations for the entire city, supported fire department support from around the country and coordinated relief with the 1st Cavalry Division and nine National Guard units.

That same dedication fuels our growth today. Over the past two decades, we’ve expanded to over 50 programs, adapted to changes in the community’s workforce needs and invested in our strengths – resulting in a deep commitment to the caring professions.

Today, UHC is a school of choice for healthcare professionals, educators, mental health counselors and business leaders. With a focus on inclusive, hands-on training, UHC’s 110-year legacy is one of endurance, innovation and unwavering dedication to New Orleans.
